The InTune campaign embraces the transformative power of music, using it as a tool to help unlock creativity and inspire young designers. By connecting music to the emotional and cognitive aspects of design, InTune invites creators of all skill levels to explore how different genres can influence their creative flow. From lo-fi beats to high-energy pop tracks, the campaign encourages personal expression and experimentation, highlighting the profound impact music has on how we think and create. With a focus on community and shared experience, InTune uses animation and social media to create a space where young designers can discover their unique creative rhythm through the power of sound—especially during moments of brainstorming and idea generation.

Narration

Music has a unique way of inspiring us. It lifts our mood, sparks ideas, and brings back nostalgic memories. Making it a powerful creativity booster for graphic designers.

Some focus techniques take years to master, but music has an immediate effect. The right song can shift your mindset in seconds. Setting the tone, building the right atmosphere, and enhancing concentration. Even shaping the rhythm, flow and progression of ideas as they build and unfold during brainstorming sessions.

One study found that young designers don’t just listen to music passively—  Some focus best with calm, classical tunes, while others need upbeat pop to stay in the zone.

As an exercise, try switching up your playlist this week and see how it affects your creativity!

Music as a Design Tool

Music and design are deeply connected with the power to shape how we think based on the song we've chosen.

EEG scans have shown that designers’ brains react to music differently based on experience. When design experts listened to rock music, their brains activated in areas associated with memory, focus, and visual thinking. But for younger designers, there was more activity in areas tied to decision-making and social awareness.

As we gain professional design experience, music may start affecting our brains in new ways—helping with problem-solving and creative flow.

No matter your skill level, music is more than just background noise. See how it all came together — including sketches, process work, and the full video series — at InTune.com

Neurological Impact of Music on Design

Music isn’t just something I listen to for entertainment, it’s apart of my everyday process when I create. Whether I’m walking, working, or brainstorming, the right music keeps my new ideas flowing.

When I’m designing, the right music helps me focus and develop new ideas.

I specifically turn to synth such as Tame Impala, or lo-fi and ambient music such as white noise to keep my mind open and clear.

Regardless of my experience, every designer's brain works differently, so experiment to see what inspires you.

So what music keeps you in the zone? Share with hashtag whatinspiresyourdesign or intune and let’s help young creatives everywhere find their sound!
